Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and [Legal entity name] ("Legit", "we", "us") and govern your access to and use of the Legit app, website, and services (the "Platform"). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. Legit is intended for use in India. By using the Platform you represent that you meet these requirements and that the identity information you provide is true, current, and your own.

2. Your account and verification

You register with your phone number and a one-time password, and you verify your identity through LinkedIn. Until verification is complete you can browse, but you cannot list, message, or post a "Looking For" seek. Verification may need to be repeated periodically.

• Keep your account secure and your details accurate. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
• One account per person. Do not create multiple or fake accounts, or impersonate anyone.
• We may refuse, suspend, or revoke verification or access at our discretion, including where required to keep the community safe.

3. What Legit is — and isn't

Legit is a venue that connects verified people who want to buy and sell second-hand goods locally. Legit is an intermediary within the meaning of the Information Technology Act, 2000. We are not a party to any transactionbetween members, and we do not:

• buy, sell, own, inspect physically, or take possession of any listed item;
• process payments, provide escrow, or handle delivery or shipping (in the current version, transactions happen offline between members);
• guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or existence of any item, or the conduct, identity, or reliability of any member.

Any contract of sale is solely between the buyer and the seller. You transact at your own discretion and risk.

4. Verification and AI checks

We use identity verification and automated (AI) checks on photos and proofs to raise the trust floor and reduce fraud. These checks are helpful signals but are not a guarantee. A Verified badge means a member met our verification threshold; it does not warrant that a member or item is legitimate in every respect. Always use your own judgement.

5. Your content and acceptable use

You are responsible for everything you post — listings, photos, seeks, profile details, and messages ("Your Content"). You must comply with our Community Guidelines, which set out prohibited items, content, and conduct (including illegal, sexual, hateful, fraudulent, and infringing content). Violations may result in content removal, suspension, permanent removal, and reporting to authorities where content is unlawful.

You retain ownership of Your Content. You grant Legit a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute Your Content solely to operate and improve the Platform (for example, to show your listing to other members). You confirm you have the rights necessary to grant this licence.

6. Transactions between members

• You are responsible for evaluating, negotiating, and completing your own transactions.
• Meet safely (see our Community Guidelines), inspect items before paying, and choose a payment method you're comfortable with.
• Legit is not responsible for, and disclaims all liability arising from, any transaction, dispute, loss, or injury between members.

7. Fees

Legit is currently free to use — there are no listing fees, promoted listings, or commissions. If we introduce paid features in future, we will tell you before they apply to you.

8. Intellectual property

The Platform, including its software, design, "Legit" name and logo, and content we create, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the Platform except as permitted by these Terms or applicable law.

9. Prohibited use of the Platform

You agree not to:

• use the Platform for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose;
• violate our Community Guidelines or the rights of others;
• scrape, harvest, or collect data about members, or interfere with, disrupt, or attempt unauthorised access to the Platform;
• circumvent verification, safety, or security measures.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Platform and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, remove content, or withdraw your Verified status, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms or our Community Guidelines, or where necessary to comply with law or protect the community.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any member, listing, item, or verification is accurate or reliable.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Legit and its affiliates, officers, and employees will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or for injury, loss, or damage arising from transactions or interactions between members, or from your use of (or inability to use) the Platform. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Legit from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of Your Content, your transactions or interactions with other members, your use of the Platform, or your breach of these Terms or applicable law.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable law, the courts at [City, e.g. Bengaluru], Karnataka, India will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

15. Grievance redressal

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, complaints may be sent to our Grievance Officer:

We acknowledge grievances within 24 hours and ordinarily resolve them within 15 days.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Continuing to use the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
